Community Engagement Project
FLOW is a community hub in North Tyneside committed to promoting and enhancing the future of young adults with additional needs. It does this through creative and vocational opportunities to develop skills and self-esteem. In this project young people who are members of FLOW are using a material they have never used before. They are creating pictures in glass under the tutelage of glass artist Sue Woolhouse.
They will experience the environment of a professional glass artist’s studio for the first time, spending time with Sue at her studio at 36 Lime Street in the Ouseburn, Newcastle. With Sue’s guidance, the young people will use graphite pencils to draw directly onto sandblasted glass and will experiment drawing using the palette of glass fusing elements of coloured glass pieces, spaghetti glass and glass bobbles to create colourful abstract or figurative drawings they will take away with them.
This is a VARC project funded by SCREAM
