All materials provided unless otherwise stated – for all sewing classes, please bring a basic sewing kit and any fabrics or threads you may wish to use. Limited places so advance booking and payment is essential.

Creative Masterclass: Drawn Ceramic Plaques
Led by Artist: Di Routledge
Saturday 5 September 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Using underglaze pencils, create a drawing on a bisque plaque and then using fresh clay create a plaque of your own from scratch, build it up to create a relief drawing, use stamps and other tools to create marks.

Creative Masterclass: Stitched Drawings / Embellished Picture
Led by Artist: Clair Kinsman
Saturday 12 September 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Using an existing picture such as a bird, cut out a segment and stitch over to embellish and allowing the stitch to finish the outline of what the picture was, therefore drawing with a needle. Place in a glass frame by Nkuku, making a beautiful piece for the home or as a gift.

Creative Masterclass: Embellished knitted shrug
Led by Artist: Gaynor Devaney
Saturday 19 September 2015 10am – 3pm £20

A pattern for the shrug will be provided before the class for people who wish to knit their shrug in advance. During the class learn how to make a variety of textile flowers, knitted flowers and other embellishments (pompoms) to decorate a beautiful shrug. Participants will need to bring some wool in the colours of their choice, knitting needles and any decorative buttons and beads. All wool types can be used. All other materials will be provided.

Creative Masterclass: Ceramic Button Making
Led by Artist: Artist Diane Rutledge
Saturday 26 September 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Learn how to create your own beautiful ceramic buttons, use stamps to decorate them, paint existing ones made by the artist and create some of your own designs from scratch too. Your buttons will be fired by the artist and can be collected from the customs house or delivered to you.

Creative Masterclass: Hoop Embroidery
Led by Artist: Gaynor Devaney
Saturday 3 October 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Make a beautiful ready – to- hang embroidered picture. Please bring a basic sewing kit and a 16cm/6 inch embroidery hoop. Base fabric and selection of decorative fabrics, threads and beads will be provided but please bring things of your own if you’d like to personalise your stitched drawn picture.

Creative Masterclass: Memories drawn in Thread
Led by Artist: Ailish Henderson
Saturday 10 October 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Create special stitched memories inspired by personal objects such as photographs and postcards. Use hand embroidery and fabric pens to sketch / outline your ideas and embellish with decorative threads. A sewing machine will be available to experiment with free machine embroidery. Please bring any personal memorabilia you would like to use to inspire you or incorporate into your pieces.

Creative Masterclass: Embellished & Doddle Tea Cosy

Saturday 17 October 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Bring in a teapot you wish to make a tea cosy pattern for. Complete your tea cosy with freestyle doddle based embroidery and embellishments. All materials are provided unless you have something special of your own to use. Perfect for a gift or for your own kitchen.

Creative Masterclass: Repurposing Books (Part 2)

If you attended the Part 1 of this masterclass, then come along to phase two and learn some more wonderful ways of turning old books and maps into interesting objects and items you can draw and doodle onto to!

Creative Masterclass: Landscapes with a Hot Twist!
Led by Artist: Ailish Henderson
Saturday 31 October 2015 10am – 3pm £12

Create your own fabric using a heat gun, soldering iron and conventional iron; along with plastic, bondaweb and synthetic fabrics to create something unique. You then use the newly created fabric to create a landscape scene, by appliqueing, stitching over and sewing it onto a new fabric background.

Creative Masterclass: Festive Batik Drawing Bunting
Led by Artist: Gaynor Devaney
Saturday 7 November 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Make a beautiful string of decorative flags using a variety of techniques including drawing with batiking, fabric paint and stitching. This would make a lovely gift or decoration for your own home. All materials will be provided. Please bring a basic sewing kit and an apron.

Creative Masterclass: Kitsch Kitchen – Illustration
Led by Artist: Bethan Laker
Saturday 14 November 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Make an original piece of Artwork ready to frame and hang. Collage a background then work up a doodle of 70’s kitchen objects to a large finished piece you can take away to put on your wall.  Use college, drawing and simple print techniques to make a quirky piece of art.

Creative Masterclass: NE Map Bag
Led by Artist Ailish Henderson
Saturday 21 November 2015 10am – 3pm £12

Create a personalised drawstring bag of where you live. Using maps of the NE already transferred onto fabric, create a unique bag which you can further draw and stitch onto using hand and machine embroidery and embellish with rich threads, beads and other fabrics. Great gift idea.

Creative Masterclass: Journal workshop
Led by Artist: Ann Proctor
Saturday 28 November 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Make a book that you can use as a travel journal, event planner, gardening or cookery diary – the only limit is your imagination! You will be able to choose from a huge collection of vintage papers, old books, decorative papers – even fabric – to make the cover and contents of your special journal.

Creative Masterclass: Quite the Character
Led by Artist: Bethan Laker
Saturday 5 December 2015 10am – 3pm £15

Based on people and characters, work with Illustrator Bethan Laker to come up with an idea, develop a drawing and scale up to make an artwork to hang ready to frame or hang on your wall.  Use college, drawing and simple print techniques to make a quirky piece of art.
